The latest in a series of projects was the exciting task of developing concept and design for the iPhone app, launched in April 2011.
Challenge
Tradera has a very popular and well-used site and an app was a logic next step. They wanted to create a new application tailored to support the company's long term strategy and at the same time ensure that it would meet business objectives as well as customer' needs. A key challenge was to define how the application could work as a complement to the existing site and what value it could add to existing customers.
Solution
Based on Traderas long-term business strategy and customer insights, we presented a number of different concepts that represented different directions for the app.

Tradera chose to further develop the concept named "the remote control"; a concept based on the idea that Traderas customers can control ongoing activities from a mobile device and be able to experience the excitement that Tradera´s service offers regardless of location.
It was quite clear at an early stage that an app would be connected to the web from a customer experience perspective. Therefore it was important to identify and support the customers' behavior in-app, as well as between webb and app, and let this insight guide the creation and choice of concept.
Effects
The initial response from users has been very positive and only 15 days after the release, eBay had 50,000 downloads of the application, a number that has risen steadily ever since.
After just 15 days we had 50,000 downloads of the app!
Tradera has thus gained a new channel to reach out to their customers and provide them with better service, resulting in an increased customer base and an improved customer experience. Tradera's app for Android, also developed in cooperation with Antrop, was released recently.
